Policy on mandatory ethical review
The Committee on Bioethics of Scientific Research of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv conducts expert evaluation of research involving human participants, their biological materials, and animals for compliance with ethical standards and Ukrainian legislation, and issues an Expert Opinion for such research.
All research submitted to the journal Bulletin of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, series in Geography that involves human participants, animals, their biological materials, or the use of personal or confidential data must obtain prior approval from the Committee on Bioethics of Scientific Research of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Such research must be conducted in accordance with applicable ethical principles and standards. The article must include details of the ethical approval obtained (name of the committee, approval number, and date of decision).
This requirement applies to research involving humans, animals, their biological materials, and research using personal or confidential data.
List of documents required to obtain an expert opinion from the Committee on Bioethics of Scientific Research at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv:
- Application submitted by the project leader/author requesting bioethical review.
- Full text of the article.
- Informed Consent Form / Protocol for Work with Laboratory Animals.
- Copy of a previous Expert Opinion of the Committee on Bioethics of Scientific Research (for articles based on materials obtained within a research project that has already received prior ethical approval).
