  • Bulletin of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Geography. Issue 1/2 (96/97)
    2026

This issue of the scientific journal contains a series of comprehensive papers covering methodological, natural-geographic, and socio-geographic aspects of modernity. The publication opens with an analysis of the historical approach as a fundamental principle of natural sciences, which ensures a holistic understanding of the evolution of natural systems, and is complemented by a study of Romania's hydrography, focusing on the state of water resources and their modern institutional management structure. The scientific discourse continues with a spatiotemporal analysis of cold spells in Ukraine, confirming the impact of global warming on regional climate trends, as well as a conceptual substantiation for identifying the forest-field structure as the foundation of the economic potential of Ukraine's lowland regions. Furthermore, the authors explore the potential of tourism and recreational activities as a tool for non-formal youth education, proposing a model that combines research and social components. A significant place in this issue is occupied by an analysis of the transformation of Ukraine’s geopolitical status, substantiating its role as a multifunctional strategic hub and a key pivot of the European and Eurasian geospace, integrating security, logistics, and innovation functions amid global challenges. The issue concludes with a study on the spatial patterns of mined areas worldwide, emphasizing the importance of integrating cartographic and geoinformation technologies into humanitarian demining systems to ensure the sustainable development of post-conflict regions.

  • Bulletin of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Geography. Issue 3/4 (94/95)
    2025

Issue covers interdisciplinary research in geography, tourism and recreation, cartography, natural and socio-geographical sciences. The theoretical-methodological section explores the university as an urban laboratory for learning through interdisciplinary interaction. The geography of recreation and tourism section focuses on strategic rural tourism development, transformation of approaches to studying tourist-recreational systems, methods for analyzing protected natural areas, and monitoring spatial dynamics of recreational systems. Cartographic studies highlight applications of artificial intelligence for collecting and processing geospatial data. Natural-geographical research addresses hydrography and water resource management, as well as the concept of climate-neutral urban geosystems. The socio-geographical section emphasizes safety, accessibility, and comfort in urban spaces through gender audits and enhancing physical accessibility of infrastructure. The young researchers’ section presents studies on the transformation of border communities and the spatial model of the Kyiv suburban zone.

    2025

The issue presents theoretical and methodological studies in the field of foreign economic activity. Current problems of human geography are explored through a proposed dynamic model of urban resilience for spatial policy development, as well as through a case study of Kryvorizhzhia’s industrial heritage as a resource for sustainable development in industrial regions. In the field of recreational and tourism geography, the potential of Polish necropolises is examined as a tourist resource and a factor in the development of post-war Ukrainian-Polish tourism. Physical-geographical research focuses on the prospects of cross-border environmental cooperation in the context of European integration and Ukraine’s post-war green recovery, along with an assessment of the net contribution of climate change to the formation of pollutant concentrations in the atmospheric air over Ukraine. The issue also includes two contributions from young scholars addressing local public finance for geospatial community development and the positioning of art tourism within the overall tourism structure.

Theoretical and methodological studies on urban planning based on gender equality and the revitalization of industrial areas are presented, using the example of Kyiv in restoring the urban environment. The research also addresses current issues in social geography, such as approaches to planning and managing the recovery of de-occupied territories, female representations in monuments and monumental sculpture in Kyiv from a gender-geographical perspective, as well as food security and the food market for crop production in the Chernivtsi region. Additionally, studies on the geography of recreation and tourism include an analysis of the current state of the restaurant industry in the Zhytomyr region and the integration of sports orienteering into the educational process of secondary schools. Furthermore, natural-geographical research explores China's water resources, their usage, and management. In cartography, research focuses on the current state of cartographic education in the academic programs of geography students in higher education institutions.
